This holiday season, you may find yourself looking for a job. This could potentially be a temporary job or you may find that it’s going to be a job that you want to hang on for a long time. What most are going to find out is that many jobs are going to require either a resume or a application. Generally, your job applications are for retail stores or jobs that generally don’t require any type of education.
With that being said, if you think you’re going to be handing in an application, there are a few things that you’re going to want to note before handing it in. Tons of people make mistakes on their application, and what you’re going to find out is that if you make these mistakes, you might as well kiss that job possibility good. Mistakes are going to lead your application to the trash can!
Here’s what you’re going to want to do to ensure that there are no mistakes:
For starters, always make sure that you proofread your application. If you can, have your friends and family look it over. See if they can spot any errors and if they do, make sure that they tell you what you can do to fix it. Better yet, if you have access to a teacher, take advantage of this!
The next thing that you’re going to want to do is make sure that you read both the front and back of the application. Even if there are some blank spots on the application, make sure that you note something such as, “N/A,” etc to show that you have read this. What employers may note is that if you keep that area blank, they may have thought that you ignored it.
The last thing that you’re going to want to do is make sure that you’re honest. Never lie about your past, nor do you want to lie about your criminal record, etc. Most major employers are going to check this and if they find that you have some sort of criminal history, they are going to smack you down. If you find yourself lying, this can get yourself in a lot of trouble.
